More Aquarium Controversy

The Aquarium items in The Sims Social have always sparked controversy, ever since the first ever launch of the Clockit Noir Fish Tank, but now the anger and frustration of players regarding the Aquariums has reached new heights.

Read The Controversial History Of The Aquariums Here!

The saga continued this week when the Aquatix Delux Aquarium was put on a last chance offer, stating that players had less than one week to snap up arguably one of the best items ever released in The Sims Social online Facebook game before it is gone forever. This led to players saving those hard earned 6000 Social Points and rushing to acquire the fishy cubicle in fear of missing out.

A couple of days ago The Sims Social developers revoked this last chance offer and today have gone ahead and decided to give players the opportunity to purchase the item for a discounted price of 2000 Social Points which has of course angered the masses who saved so hard over the last week. Adding insult to injury, the developers at Playfish posted the wrong version of the Aquarium in adverts promoting the Christmas Daily Discount Sale as you can see in the picture above. We just hoped that the old Clockit Noir version was to see its return at least for damage limitation purposes.

We here at The Sims Social Fansite try to be impartial at all times, however we have to say that this whole debacle has made no sense. Okay, so the developers decided to discontinue the Aquatix Delux Aquarium, there is no harm in that, however revoking that offer and then placing the Aquarium in a Christmas sale just seems ludicrous in regards to controversy and popularity of the game.

The argument against this move is that a sale in real life are often the same, with people buying items at full price and a week later they could be on sale for cheaper, but as a developer with a reputation to uphold and a declining fan base to hold on to you'd think they would have avoided this at all costs. Out of all of the items they could have placed in the Christmas Daily Discounts Sale they go and pick the Aquatix Delux Aquarium after having it on a last chance offer just days ago?

We must admit that Playfish have made some really smart, creative and fun moves over the holiday period and excitement in The Sims Social universe had reached a new level with the improved Daily Play Rewards, New Tycoon Mystery Boxes, Great Karaoke Machine Skill Item, Festive Chic items drop and Christmas Daily Discounts Sale, but then this! We admit, it isn't the worst and most catastrophic event in the world, but it certainly was an avoidable one. The next thing is, are they crazy enough to keep the Aquarium in The Sims Social store after this 60% discount ends? It seems the controversy surrounding The Sims Social Aquariums are far from over and possibly will never end!

We'd love to know your thoughts and opinions on this very controversial topic within The Sims Social online Facebook game. Let us know what you think via Facebook, Twitter, Forum, Chat Room or briefly in the Comments below.

  1. I'm really mad about this!!! I read it was a last chance offer and bought it for 6000 sp and therefore spent all I had and now it's on sale for just 2000!!! They should at least give us some free sp for that!!!

  2. if they do this again i'm going to block this game forever!

  3. I bought the recently discounted Aquatix Delux today hoping with a small part of me that it would actually be the Noir one. It's not.

I mean they make the conscious effort to use the Noir one in the ads outside and in-game so it seems like a technical mishap. It would make more sense too.

  4. at least they should put the black aquarium in the store instead of the brown one

  5. yep i thought it was going to be gone and used all 6000 of my credits to get it leaving me with less than 100 only to have been riped a few days later when i could have saved 4000 points.. and thats a lot of visits :( not so happy simmer Merry Christmas all Mari <3

  6. Look... I've been saving up for the aquarium as well... then gave up, bought the table and a few other things. Now I'm working like crazy to try to get 2K social points in time for tomorrow. I've bought things in the past that went on "sale" the next day (and in one case, a few hours later) and hey, that's the way it goes.

I wouldn't mind, however, if you were to give everyone 1000 social points as a Christmas gift...

maybe it'll sooth those who feel they "paid too much" for the aquarium. Maybe it'll get me an aquarium.

  7. yes i paid the full 6000 credits to get it before it expired leaving me with less than 1000 social points... only for it to change and a savings of 4000 credits now available and its not leaving the store i guess either not so nice sims.... merry christmas all Mari

  8. What makes it worse is that a great deal of us payed 4000 more social points for this item ... that is not something very easily done as social points are very hard to accumulate. If it were simoleons I would not be as bothered as they are not nearly as difficult to collect. The worst could have been simcash as most have to pay real money to get simcash ... so decreasing the price on something that is simcash would have been enough for me to quit the game. As it is ... I am very upset as it took literally weeks to collect enough social points to buy the fish tank in the first place and now to see it for a third of the price, quite frankly pisses me off.

  9. i bought aquarium de lux. and i feel so terribly bad on buying it. -_- i save 6000 social points for the sake to buy that crap and ignoring all the great stuffs on sale. not to mention to be on the top of my friends in terms of house value. sigh. 6000 social points WASTED!!!!!!!!!!

  10. I think they should give everyone 4000 social points just to say they are sorry for the stupid, misleading, and downright EVIL!!! decision they made by doing this. These kind of tricks they pull make me think twice about logging into the game ever again. Thanks for giving me doubts about what I considered at one time the best game on facebook.

  11. I am so unhappy on CHRISTMAS DAY of all days because i scrimped and saved my social points to buy it for 6000. An now they do this so not on!! :( :(

    ReplyDelete
  12. now i know why people leaves sim social... game operation is so poor... *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  13. I for one would like a 4000 social point rebate,I worked hard for the social points i get as going through 60+ sims friends a day can be tedious.I can't really afford to spend money on this game and won't if I could now thanks to dumb crap like this.

    ReplyDelete
  14. If playfish doesn't give back my sp, i will stop playing sims social EVER!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. in real life if an item goes on sale a few days after you buy it the store will give you back the difference, so i'm not sure why people say that those who got ripped off by the developer lying about the item being gone forever shouldn't be mad about it. that was the only reason i bought it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ea generally sucks as a rule. This is why they don't have The Sims Online anymore, and this kind of stuff will be the downfall of The Sims Social eventually also. I bought the aquarium for 6000 sp and I am very disappointed now too. This is just so unfair of them to do this to so many players. They really should make it up to us somehow.

    ReplyDelete
  17. What made me mad is that you said the last week that this item will leave the game and tara appear again and with discount I am really mad about it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. ugh !!! so upset .... its not easy to get social points and 6000 and that .... and after earning all of those points in an effort to catch the last chance sale .... now its much cheaper !!! i think every one with an aquarium should get atmleast 4000 social points

    ReplyDelete
  19. This is most unfortunate how they would put an advertisement that it will be discontinued, (and so I rush to buy it at full price) only for it to be on sale shortly after. I was planning to buy it either way, I always wanted one but it's still very misleading and unfair how Playfish has handled this item.

  20. Our comments fall on deaf ears, here. These developers have proven over, and over again that they could give a rats ass about their players. They ignore the Monumental DECREASE in regular players. They continue to put out one of the worst running games on the internet, and sit back and laugh at the players who will still log on daily to play this bug ridden.......glitching.......slow-running game. The ONLY way to get their attention is to have ONE-DAY where NO ONE LOGS IN FOR AN ENTIRE DAY. This will get their attention!. I have been screwed out of my weekly gold for 2 weeks in a row, and they won't even reply to my mail. At the end of the day....the PLAYERS dictate whether a game will stay on, or be deleted. LIKE this post if you agree. I will be sending a copy to them.

  21. You guys are acting ridiculous. The same stuff happens in real life. Does that mean you're gonna quit life? No! I'm not telling you that you shouldn't quit the game. I'm telling you to stop obsessing over it because it's just a game.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm not mad at all at the fact that they reduced the price for the Aquarium. I'm extremely upset, however, because this is not the Clockit Noir. They advertised it with the picture of the Clockit Noit, and NOW I WANT THE CLOCKIT NOIR, GODDAMN IT.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Aside from the costs, and how unhappy I am for dishing out, 6,000 Social Points... What is the difference between, the black one and the brown one? Does the black one have more options? Different options? Why the heck wasn't the black one talked about, before all of this? Shouldn't things be explained here, before it reaches the game? All I ever known about was the brown one! I had no idea there was a black one? Had I known, that the one for 2,000 was going to be in shop, I would of waited. What is wrong with playfish?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am so bummed! I am one of the people who bought it only because it was my last chance. Social points are so hard to accrue. GRRR!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh this really ticks me off. I can't help but wonder if this was done on purpose in hopes that people would spend real cash to buy more SP. Nope, not doing it.

I worked retail management for many years, if you buy something & it goes on sale within 2 weeks, most retailers will refund you the difference. Never worked for a company that did not.

Spend 6k SP and then the item is on sale 4K cheaper 2 days later? Yeah, not cool Sims Social. Not cool.

After the fiasco with the darn cauldron that I DID pay real cash for at Halloween, I am just about done with this game and will not be spending any more hard earned cash in their store or on future Sims games either.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I saved 6,000 because I thought it was gonna be gone forever! I'm tempted into leaving this game, not worth playing if I keep getting ripped off. Now I have no SP, the extra 4,000 would've gotten me a few nice things!

    ReplyDelete
  27. If a real store did this they would allow earlier purchasers to bring in their receipts and return to the customer the difference in price I don't care however as I gave up on this stinking game months ago after the holding out for a hero snafu lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. As today was my only day I could ever buy the fishtank, (and I want it for the looks, not abilities), I spent the vast majority of my whole 2200 social points, and am happy. I think it was impoverished players like me they were trying to please. If you had 6000, you overspent, and they shouldn't have made that the case, but from a perspective of a poorer player, at least you had 6000 at some point. You can't get that overnight - or at least I can't, it took me ages to get the 2200 I had (now it's down to 200). That 6000 social point price tag was much too rich for many of us, ever. It's Christmas, so they gave the poorer players a break.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Exactly the same thing happened to me! Saved up 6,000... for a waste!

In real life, when you buy things and they go on sale, you can return it for a price adjustment.

    Can't even do that!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well, I had 6k SP, but I was waiting until the very last hours to buy the aquarium. All I can say is:
    Pacience younglings, pacience..

  32. I love playing the SIMS but are people for real crying about HARD earn social points in a virtual game ??? HELLO PEOPLE !!!! theres a lot of people going trough a lot worse then this in real life so plz stop crying about virtual items !!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. It took me almost 6months to get 6000 social points due to when i get them i had to spent them on some dumb quest item and now i got them up ya'll put it on sell, there should of been a memo about that after Thanksgiving. I think you should give the people who brought it in December a rebate

    ReplyDelete
  34. I never bought any aquariums at all ever, so I was really glad to see this on low sale for an amount I already had saved, and got my first and only one for 2000 Social points, so Im fine, but I can see why people who paid more would be mad.I think they probably should just give everyone, those who paid alot too 4000 Social points, but I also think they ought to also give the rest of us who had not paid full cost 4000 also, simply because we also have had all the OTHER glitches problems and have lost coins and SP on quest errors just like everyone else also. One last thing, I am very mad that I have emailed and spoken to playfish on TWELVE different times now about them FIXING my sim being trapped inside Halloween clothes, and never did they do a darn THING, so I decided against better judgement to turn my sim into a guy for five minutes, then back to female, and yes it cost me precious simcash, TWENTY to be exact, which I feel I ought to now be given back!!!! But because the cape I was trapped in wasnt a mans item, I knew it would be removed. NOW after all that loss and crap and being ignored by EA My Sim no longer looks like a moron. But this wasnt the solution,20 simcash is worth real money equal to like 3.00. or so, and why must I pay to remove a cape????? Anyhow have a great Chirstmas, or whatever holiday you celebrate anyhow, and I hope everyone is given back whatever was spent for no reason.

    ReplyDelete
  35. oh boo hoo people, get a grip. crap like this happens in everyday life. deal with it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The Christmas gift was so... 5 energy. For who loose 4000 socialpints it's nothing! It was so stupid. This is not real life. In real life I don't buy things with "money" that I get talking with people. And it was even a lie, because they said that the aquarium would be gone forever, and it IS NOT, and it is with 60% offer! Oh please... Not even giving me a million cash I could forget it (ok, I can think about this later xD)

    ReplyDelete
  37. why would a silly facebook game ruin your christmas? really, if this is your biggest problem you really need to get a life.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I am upset as well. I bought it weeks ago and was proud because no one else would be able to afford one, now you made it so everyone can have one. What were you THINKING.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yes, I agree with the others. I saved and bought the fish tank for 6000 sp too,and to find out it was on sale for 2000 a couple days later really burns me. I think that the ones of us that paid 6000 sp for it should be reimburst our 4000sp. You people are losing your players by doing this kind of thing to your faithful players. Merry Christmas. God Bless!

    ReplyDelete
  40. ok yall just need to leave them nice people alone i paid full price for it sales happen.. its ok what are you going to do when your car goes on sale at the dealership? demand your money back there just going to laugh at you its a game and whether you paid full price half price or the deal 2k you still have it and there is nothing there going to do to make you happy about it... now with that said merry Christmas and happy holidays sincerely the one person that is just happy to have the game to play....

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hey, I saw they could save face by offering a large amount of social points to make up for this problem during Christmas day, or even the day after. I myself wasn't upset. I bought two! It brought my house value way up and now I have two really cool fish tanks in my house, when most people only have one! that makes me giggle inside. But yeah, it would be nice if we could recuperate some of those lost social points.

    ReplyDelete
  42. My sister is brand new to the game, and she was upset that she couldn't get 6000 social points to get the fish tank.

Imagine our surprise and delight when it came back to the store at such a deep discount! Thank you Sim social!

    ReplyDelete
  43. "however we have to say that this whole debacle has made no sense."

It makes sense when you realize THERE IS NO ONE IN OVERALL CHARGE of "The Sims Social". No project manager with the responsibility of overseeing the game as a whole and insuring the continuity of the game.

No one could hold such a job and be so incompetent at doing it as this game demonstrates daily.

Instead, whatever Playfish programmer who is assigned to "The Sims" for the day just comes up with random stuff that has no continuity with what the guy who worked on it yesterday did, or what the next random guy to work on the game tomorrow might do..?

(You realize they have a plethora of games they have to support, and apparently there's no specific Sims programming team... that is, they all work on whatever project they're put on whenever.)

This is the only possible explanation for all the things we see constantly happening in this game that make no sense.

One guy says "take out stuff from the Shop to make room for Christmas items", and the next guy randomly picks stuff without checking with anyone else to see if they're needed for game quests because he doesn't know the game very well, and takes out things like the sofa from a matched set of sofa and chair, leaving the orphaned chairs in the game. Not to mention taking out the required rocks and trees for quests.

Then a different guy decides to remove the Aquatix aquarium and puts it on "final sale", but the guy who comes in two days later has been told to pick out four items for a Christmas sale, and without checking on anything randomly decides to add the Aquatix aquarium to his sale for far less than the last guy did.

And NO ONE is in overall control of the project who can say "NO- that's not the way to treat players." Or- "NO- those items are needed so players can complete quests."

It like 10,000 chimpanzees are banging out code on 10,000 typewriters and we the players have to put up with the "game" that comes out the other end.

I feel bad the gaming industry has fallen to this level.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I agree. I did the same thing, saved for a long time and even converted some of my simcash. This is not the way to treat loyal customers, especially when the fan base is in decline. There are ways of making this right, and I'm sure the good folks at Playfish can think of a fair, creative solution-- IF THEY CARE.

    ReplyDelete
  45. However, also in real life most stores will refund you the difference from the regular and sale prices if you go to the customer service desk with the receipt within a week, depending on the product. Therefore, the developers' real life analogy is just as bs as the stunt they pulled. They should at least refund the 4k social points to the people that bought the tank within its 'last chance' time period.

    ReplyDelete
  46. U should say sorry to us and paid back 4000 social points as refund of foolish thing. If u dun give 4000,at least give 2000 or 1000 to us.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Funny how they bring this out on the night before christmas. Sure enough they're gonna lose a million or two players from this.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I bought the aquarium for 6000 sp also. I was saving for things I actually liked. Now by the time I save sp the other items will not be available. I have put my own money into this game. So not happy right now. They need to fix this fast. I want my 6000 sp back. I will stop playing this game. And considering I play my moms and my sisters, that will be 3 less players. From the looks of it, they need all of us.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I was furious about this. I had saved up 8000 social points and when they said yesterday that we had 24 hours I went ahead and bought it. Today it is only 2000. WTH!? I wouldn't mind if it were Simoleons but Social Points are hard to get that high.

I was in a friendly competition over house value and they can now buy 3 for what I paid for one. That is so unfair. They should give everyone who bought the tank at the higher price something in exchange or a refund.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I really didn't understand why they did that. I would be so pissed if i paid 6000 social points for it right before the discount.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I haven't logged in yet, this evening. Am hoping to snag this for the massive discount... was in earlier, and it was still at 6000 sp in the shop. So, yeah... I dunno.

    ReplyDelete
  52. i am STILL mad. D: what the heck, playfish? are you deliberately trying to piss off your target audience? i want to start a petition. :(

    ReplyDelete
  53. It makes me mad and I think I should get a refund. If the argument is it's like real life shopping, then they should honor a thirty price guarantee!! I'm about done with it over the repeat dumb moves. Zynga has their stuff way more together than this.

    ReplyDelete
  54. No in real life, if a retailer puts somthing on sale they have price pertection..... meaning if you buy it and the price drops with in 7 days they will refund you the difronts! But only items that where gotten in that window. I know that for a fact if you ask it of them they will do it on all REGULAR STOCKED ITEMS ONLY But how they get a way from having to give discounts after the holidays is because. That stuff has a difront sku and was ordered and provided just for that season so that is a true going going gone deal and goes on clearance not a "sale"! But stuff they cary year round.... like this fish tank for example.... they should provide a refund. Any honest business would and thats what this game is a retail business when you strip it all down. So that is why i am mad about this. If it was holiday crap i could not care less if they dropped the price because thats normal. Not how they did thing though..... it was in very poor tast and they owe an apologize to all the fans that they screwed out of there 4000SP.........

    ReplyDelete
  55. this move make no sense: i could have understand if they discounted the aquarium in the 'last week chance offer' so that every player had a chance to get one, but now the people who paied the full amount are just going to be really upset.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Grrrrr! I also got duped by the last chance offer and I shelled out the 6,000 social points for the aquarium (I was saving for that stupid 15,000 point kitchen thing). I was REALLY hoping that they would have rereleased the Noir, but nope! And yeah this is the kind of thing that happens in the "real" world... I have two things to say about that statement.
    1. This is NOT the real world!
    2. Had this happened in the real world, I would have rushed back to the store to get my reimbursement - many stores do that!

    ReplyDelete
  57. This is how The Sims Social was able to ruin Christmas with a measly fish tank! Fail.

    ReplyDelete
  58. And lets add a little more insult to injury... In addition to the aquarium being offered for so much less only days after I bought it, IT IS NOW AVAILABLE WITHOUT HAVING TO BE BUILT! What a bunch of b.s.!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I kind of find it all funny, I remember saving for that thing as a newbie...but now I have 20,000+SP, they shouldn't have done that though lol.

    ReplyDelete
  60. This is not the same as "real life" store sales.

First they don't tell you that it is the last chance to buy item AT FULL PRICE because it will forever be gone and then turn around and put it back.

Second they always let you return items if you are not happy with it.

    TOTAL RIP OFF!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Utterly disgusted as I bought it for 6000 social points believing it would disappear and it was supposed to be gone by the end of the day. What do you know? It's not going anywhere and now only costs 2000 social points. Rip off! Very mad about this.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Sales are great!!!!!!The only mistake aboyt the whole story is ΄΄limited time΄΄!For the new players is an unexpected and perfect gift!Consider that some people spend their real money-simcash-for the bed and now is on sale!Merry Loving Christmas to all!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Lucky me, I have Cowplant for boosting 'Social' need for free and I don't have to worry about this expensive aquarium :) Mary X-mas to everyone !

    ReplyDelete
  64. Patience is a virtue. I bought two aquariums in the sale with the SP I've been saving up all week. Was going to wait until the last day anyway to purchase it. I'm very happy. :P

    ReplyDelete
  65. im so mad i worked so hard to get my 6000 social points on this thing they should give my 3000 social points back but i know i wont get them but i know im working on getting my fish tank today on my either sims cant wait to get it woot im so happy im gonna have 2 of theses that i waited all year for

    ReplyDelete
  66. i don't see how giving everybody 4000 social points would make this "fair". some people did not care about the aquarium before, probably still do not care about it, and then they would get "rewarded" in the same way as everyone else ? that would be silly.

i bought the aquatix delux a while ago after saving social points for a little over a week. i don't see how i need compensation for this as well as the others who are enraged about this.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Well, we can't blame them. This happens in real life too :(

    ReplyDelete
  68. i was totally pissed after i scrambled to come up with the 6ksp to get that thing thinking i better get it while i can.. and then they lower it to 2k. i seriously almost removed the app from my facebook. they should do something to make up for that reaming some of us took.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I too am one of the unfortunate that spent 6000 social points on the Aquatix only to find a week later that it is not gone forever! The people that are arguing that it is like a sale in real life are wrong, things don't go on sale 67% off EVER in real life. And if they did all you would have to do is bring your receipt back and they will give you an adjustment. How about an adjustment from Sims? I want my 4000 social points.

    ReplyDelete
  70. This is extremely disappointing. I consider it nothing more than a sleazy tactic where they hype people up for something, namely the Aquatix Delux going away forever, and then after people spent their very hard earned social points on it they not ONLY decided NOT to take the item away but instead PUT IT ON SALE?! Outrageous! And a complete slap in the face to those of us who worked like mad to make sure we collected all 6,000 social points in time.

What they need to do is to refund 4,000 social points to all their players who bought the Aquatix Delux during the falsely advertised "Last Chance" period. I guarantee you many of them, including me, wouldn't have bought it at this time if we weren't told it would be leaving the store forever.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I agree with everyone else. This is a bunch of BS. I worked hard for those social points and was extremely dissapointed when this came up. If they keep that damn thing in the store I'm going to be more than pissed. I worked hard. They are a bunch of jerks (and that's a nice way of putting it). They should refund those of us who bought it our 4000 social points.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I was very upset that they forced people to purchase the aquatiz thinking it was last chance for 6000 social pts and then lower it as a Christmas special to 2000 now people are out of the extra 3000 social points it is just one more thing to put a nail in the coffin for me to stop playing sims social the game has become very greedy and seem to be doing the same thing over and over again with no benefits or rewards.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Thanks so much for this aquarium, I've been collecting social points to buy one but I gave up 'cause it was so expensive, now I finally get to have one:) Thanks again :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. SAme, here how your gonna tell me spend 6k now before its gone, i buy it, then be like ok its only 2k now.. Merry christmas to us apparently, I want my 4k back.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I have bought the fish tank for 2000 social points but I think they should make up for it by giving away 4000 social points but only to those who payed 6000 for the fish tank. It would be fair and in the spirit of Christmas :)

    ReplyDelete
  76. i'm not mad that they sell it for 2000 soc points now but the value of it for the house should have been lower as well. Now we lost 4000 points for nothing. I think the one who have bought it before should get something back.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Like everyone here, I spent 4,000 sp more on this item with fear that I won't have it before it forever gone. What a shame.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I bought the fish tank about three weeks ago, so it hasn't really affected me. I was never going to buy a second one. However, I do think this was a poor move on their part, and had I been one who had just bought it, I know I would be very upset. It is still a great item, but the entire controversy is just insane.

  79. In the real world, if a company advertises an item as a "last chance" item and then a week later changes it's mind and reduces the price of the item drastically, people would be in rage, and that company would be sued for false advertising!

And by the way, there are places that refund you the difference if their price lowers within the week or month. I think it would be nice if sims social did the same thing.

  80. I wanted the fish tank, couldn't afford it, so I just saved up for Christmas week, and YAY!! I had PLENTY of SP to get it. Yeah they need to do something to make up for screwing a bunch of people, but let's be real for a second, it was also AWESOME for all of us who couldn't have gotten 6000 sp to get it last chance. I actually got a hot tub AND a fish tank since I waited and let the original tank go. IDK, I don't even need the tank, since I'm full crazy and don't need it to raise my social, but dang, some of us are on REALLY slow connections and really don't want to visit anyone more than we absolutely have to. Do you have any idea how long it takes to load houses over 100K on a weak connection? Sims needs to stop the douchebaggery involving raising social for sure.

  81. I also wasted 6,000 hard-earned social points on the Aquatix Deluxe that I could have spent on something else. :C The developers shouldn't do this if it wants to keep its fanbase.

  82. LOL I actually remember a week ago SEARCHING for the aquarium and I FINALLY found it only to see how expensive it was. It was then I got confused because I saw on this site that it was supposed to be a whole different price (which I knew was an estimate of some sort). So I went on their official page (not sure if it was the FB page or the forum)and somewhere it said all the prices. I saw that only 2 were social points and the rest involved the SimCash. So, I found the sale pretty useless and I was just mad about that. But I did wait for the 2000 Simoleons sale :)

  83. i bought this thing for 6k a day before the discount just because it was going to be taken out of the shop. This is really frustrating, im seriously thinking about playing this game ever again ...

  84. Putting the delux on sale instead of the pictured noir is false advertising! Sort it out you muppets!!

  85. Playfish, you SUCK!!

  86. no wonder sims-social is loosing players...

  87. I never bought the aquarium and never wanted to buy either. Plus it's a nice "virtual" item, and the ones in the sims 3 are prettier so to me, even if they pretty much did false moves after false moves, I find it way too silly.

So I'm gonna sit back and chill out while people are getting mad at this. xD No offense intended, but yeah, it's an item. Relatively useless too, since basic items fill needs anyway. I get what people are saying, but yeah, very virtual and all.

  88. Since I saw how the game treat players I won't send any real money ever.

  89. im trying to save up like crazy i have 1800 social points and i need more!!!! I WANT IT SO BAD! :(

    ReplyDelete
  90. Very disappointed when I saw they slashed the price after announcing it was going away. It's a very underhanded move that cost me 4,000 social points.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Another point to make: The 4,000 social points that were subtracted from the price are worth 160 SimCash. in a non-holiday-sale world, that's more than $20 worth of social points they screwed me out of. Not a happy camper.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I think this is quite cool. I just didn't have the time to earn more than 5.000 social points in 1 week in order to buy the aquarium. But I could save the 2.000 needed to buy the aquarium on xmas discount, so I'm very happy.

And about those virtual fools who worked hard to earn 6.000 SS, they should learn to work less and do more business (that's where the real profit is).

  93. I want my 4000 social points back. =/

  94. If people actually paid attention to the way the game works, they would have known something was wrong with the aquarium when it did not show up under Last Chance with a discounted price - something most users still don't see and question. That alone was fishy to me as Last Chance items are typically discounted. When they finally put it on sale as per typical Last Chance items - at a discounted price - THAT'S when I bought.

  95. So I was on late last night, and I noticed they put the aquatix off the "last chance" and it's now staying???
    Am I seeing this right???

  96. I was going to buy this. It's beautiful. But I just gave up on it. Spending time with my family is more important than this game, and I'mm sure once they have a tropical week I'll find something just as nice for my sim's home.
Honestly I forgot because I was so busy and now it's gone. But then again I don't even have any room for more items.
They did a terrible job expanding out item slot just by 50.

    *sighs* Well, oh well.
Thanks for telling us about it's bizarre listing history haha.
    RIP Ripoff Delux!

  97. The aquarium issue was a very ugly move from the owners/developers and several players of my family/friends are really disappointed on this. Accumulating social points takes a long time and effort! It is a nosense to offer it as a last chance item, and two days later make it a Christmas offer for half the price! Playing this game is getting more and more discouraging...

    ReplyDelete
  98. When I bought this, it was just before I saw it in shop saying it was a "last chance" item. I thought to myself, "shouldn't it be less of a price, for this"? I was so mad, because I just invited my younger sister to play this game. Just a day after she began to play, for the first time ever... It goes on sale! Which was odd and maddening on my part, because I was totally bragging to her about it... I had just bought it, was encouraging my sister to get it. lol Then, I saw that "Last Chance- remaining 6,000 sp" and, thought it was totally unfair. Ya know, this game isn't supposed to be just as frustrating or even worse, than the real world. Most people get lost in games to "escape the real world", because who wants to deal with the "real world" for more than they have to? Even with something as simple as Solitaire... I mean a game is there to ease our minds! To takes us somewhere where we'd like to escape to. At least that is how I began to see Sim Social, when I first began to play a long while back. There weren't any bug issues... Money issues... It was fair-play. I liked the potential and theme... It is truthfully, understandable that people, including myself... Would be upset over this... This is a true slap in the face. We get so interested in a game, get so into it... Put off things, just to "have some fun", after a long day's work... And, only to get disappointed like this?! My sister, now doesn't even want to log into the Sims anymore... The game, as she has just began it, slows down her computer really bad... So, at first, I was really happy about my own sister joining me in a game I got so into... Now, she doesn't even want to play it that often. Because of the game errors... On top of all of these disappointments, we all should get a special delivery from the Sim Santa.. And, since it's after Christmas... Wish us a Happy New Year and Gift us, please, with a refund or Large Sim Cashed item, just to make up for this! Thank you and good-night! Oh, and bright... "Controveral" you call it? ha ha! Just to top off the anger... Not good. It just spams up more hype. :(

  99. Get used to this people. It's EA for christ's sake. Is this the first time you have played an EA game?

    ReplyDelete
  100. I was excited to get it for the 2000.. and I almost ended up grabbing it for the 6000 deal they had.... before, I didn't bother because I would've been cleaned out of my points.. I think that anybody who paid that 6000 should be reimbursed because that is just so upsetting... We put way too much time and effort into earning that to end up getting screwed over like that...

  101. In real life, if an item goes on sale within a week of me buying it for regular price, I could go to the store, show them my receipt and they'll adjust the price on the item i bought. If the makers of the sims social refunded the difference to the people they tricked into buying their item for full price, they'd make a lot of people happy, and isn't that what makes a successful game? Making the people who keep it alive happy? I'm a huge gamer and am willing to spend money on games I felt was worth the cost. The sims social would've been one of those games, but after falling prey to their mistakes/evil tactics like this, and that popup that makes it all too easy to lose simcash to energy you don't want to buy, or to quests you were just trying to complete, losing actual money to things I don't want would just make me feel so much worse. And trying to get it back is no small effort and there's no guarantee they'll help you. Sure it's just a game, but if I'm going to spend time and money on it, I'd like it to be on something that made me happy. Not on something that made me feel fooled and cheated. They'd gain far more customers if they'd just ditch the tricks. Fix their pop ups so people don't accidentally waste their money on energy, or on skipping quests we actually WANT to do. Lose 16 actual dollars for skipping a quest?!? Seriously? And I'd have to pay over 140 simcash to make up for the 4000 social points I'd lost to the aquarium?!? I'd hate spending money on a game I didn't enjoy. And this? This is just ridiculous. Plus they're overpriced. I could buy 2 ps3 games to make my cartoon house pretty for a little while until I get bored and decide to change it. 3 ps3 games if I buy them on craigslist. And with games you can buy from an actual, physical store, you can't accidentally lose them by clicking on a button you hadn't meant to.

  102. I wrote to Playfish Customer Support and told them this is not right and wanted a refund of 4000 social points. They said they could not refund them but that their Moderators were gathering info from the forums. What more info do they need to gather?! This is NOT right. They completely LIED to us and falsely advertised a "special last chance on an item that was to be retired". For them to now reduce the price and keep it there? REFUND US. PERIOD.

  103. I want 4000 social points back cuz I could have bought it for 2000 if I would have waited to purchase this one more day! Other than that, I have no major complaints.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I bought 2 days before coming on sale... im really disapointed with this game... I could save 4000 social points (thing that they concerned bout limit the offer for gamers)... so...4000 social point will take a while. Im playing less than a half of the time i used to cuz things like that... thank you very much for the justice EA!

    ReplyDelete
  105. I really do understand why so many are upset by this. You feel lied to & ripped off. Many have said that if they had bought something in a store & the item went on sale a few days afterwards, that the store would refund them the difference. There are some stores that will do that but most DO NOT! I've worked in the retail industry & most retailers look upon that as simply profit! Look, this game serves almost 8 million people. Do you honestly think they can make everyone happy??? If you do, you're pretty naive... Sorry, just had to wake a few of you up...

    ReplyDelete
  106. True a lot of retailers do not give a difference credit/refund if something goes on sale later but I don't for a minute consider it naive. Social points are hard to come by. Lots of work involved and 6k worth is not easy to do. I am saving for the food center and an extra 4k would help greatly.

Whatever happens in the real world should not apply here. Sims made a mistake. With all of the other problems that we have faithfully sat through and worked with (have ya fixed the 6x6 room bug yet? my sim still watches the bed whoo hoo...and my hot tub bubbles with no one in it, along with several other glitches)....it would be in your better interest to appease folks and just give the 4k in social points back. It's not like it's cash. What are we going to do with it really other than use it in the game?

Do the right thing and give the 4k to everyone. It will go a long way in mending this unending broken fence that you all seem to have with this game. You were #2, passing Zynga and now they have their lead back. It's not because of lack of interest in the game. It's because you have ticked off too many people too many times.

    Good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Patience my ASS! I paid 6,00 SP for it THE DAY BEFORE they lowered it to 2K SP. THEY SHOULD REFUND 4k SP to anyone that bought it during that "last week" or whatever that they advertised that it would not be available again. BE FAIR EA/PLAYFISH!!!

I can't believe people are getting so butthurt over a non-cash item in a free-to-play GAME! I am as obsessive as anyone about playing the Sims Social, but seriously folks, GET A LIFE!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Well...I bought a bunch of them when they were on sale, and then turned around and sold them when the sale was over, mwahaha. 2k SP each to buy, 6k Simo's each after the sale. Almost was as good as the mass sales of the Teru Teru Bozu's as gifts a few months ago >=D
