The Sims Social Cars Release Date Pushed Back

At the beginning of January we revealed that the Release Of Cars Into The Sims Social Was Imminent, as we were informed that the online Facebook game developers at Playfish had signed a contract with car manufacturing giant Toyota and were going to promote the new Toyota Prius through a two week quest.

These details don't seem to have changed, instead the estimated release date of 19th January has been pushed back to around mid March for reasons that we have no idea about? We can reveal however that the car that we believe will be available to use in game, is called the 'Yashimoto Prais' (Pictured) and for the time being only holds one interaction, being 'Wax Car'. It doesn't seem like the car is drivable in The Sims Social.

The price attached to the item is 10 SimCash, however we still do believe it will be given away on loan for free, for a period of two weeks, then after that you will have the option of purchasing it. This will echo the real life promotion attached to the Toyota Prius in which you can trial the car for a fortnight with no commitments to buy.

We'll keep you informed when we know more! Are you excited for the release of cars into The Sims Social? What do you think the reason for the delayed release is? Will you be buying the Toyota Prius after your trial period, or will you even attempt to complete the quest at all? Share your thoughts via Facebook, Twitter, Forum, Chat Room or by leaving a short Comment below.

  1. Yay! Bring 'em on! But where will the Sims be able to drive to? down their street? Will it just morph them to another house, like the mirror does or that shower? It would be fun to have them actually drive and go somewhere.

  11. To own a car that you can only wax, not drive seems kinda lame. It may never happen, but I know many of us are looking forward to the day when the game items are no longer limited to their squares (ie. can move around).

  15. that must be a typo.....Sims Social cant post a dog turd on the lawn for sale for anything under 200 sim cash...so 10 sim cash for a car i call bull$h*t on this one

  16. They can charge only* 10 SimCash because it's a promo item and toyota is probably paying them enough from sponsorship. On another note it would be cool if we could drive to a neighbor's house when we visit them.

  17. I know I'll buy that for only 10 sim cash! Tell them Thank YOU and please don't increase price!!! Also, testing the real car out for 2 weeks sounds straight...AWESOME!!!

  18. Really a Toyota??? I wouldn't even by a toyota in real life. Come on sims can we get a chevy or something more American!! I don't care if it is 10 sims cash or 200 I won't be buying it :(

  19. 10 Sim Cash sounds about right when you figure it's really Toyota that is funding it as a promotion for their line.

  20. Release date must be trying to coincide with the first anniversary of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Buy Japanese! At least virtually, there's nothing wrong with that idea.

  21. I guess the sims are going on vaca and need to rent a car for the trip. I wonder where the sims are going? Disney Land would be a good guess don't you think.

  22. SERIOUSLY?

Hello this is a sponsored item. Just like the DD lawnchair and the coffee maker.

The ONLY thing you can do is complain about it? What is the deal? Instead of being so hateful be happy to have it. 10 Simcash can be raised in time to get it.

Don't even THINK of saying we got the DD stuff for free why not this. You are getting it for free for 2 weeks. Dr. Pepper was a sponsor too but you still had to buy the Dr Pepper.

Count your blessings people! Rejoice and be happy to be alive so we can enjoy!

And no one is FORCING you to play, but I bet you will miss it when you do, with all the quirks, you know you will.
