More Storage Coming Soon To The Sims Social

One of the biggest complaints from players of The Sims Social at the moment is the tight restrictions given for Storage, especially with The Sims Social dropping new items into the game every week. Whilst players really want to add to their collection of items and furnishings for their favourite online Facebook game, they also don't want to continue to sell the lovely things they have bought from previous collections.

Before Christmas, The Sims Social raised the Storage limits from 500 items to a maximum of 550. However, since then we have had more than ten different themed weeks and over 400 new items. The problem Playfish have is that as the game progresses and ages, this storage limit will need to continue to rise and rise which can slow the game down without the required server space at their end. By expiring items when they get older is a great way to keep the server limits down and provide space for new ones, but expiring an item then makes it more sought after and adds to the demand of players Storage space.

The good news is that Playfish has announced that more Storage will be made available in the near future, however they have not provided any specific dates that we can expect it by. Maybe the raise to 600 items, sometime in February or March? Who knows? At least we know that this update is planned and the developers are putting things in motion.

Have you ran out of Storage space? Any ideas as to how Playfish can resolve the Storage Limitation problem for the future of The Sims Social online Facebook game? Share your thoughts and opinions via Facebook, Twitter or by leaving a Comment in the section provided below.

  1. can they make it so the storage is done in OUR hard drives like other games do? the problem i see is that they really don't know what they r doing period.

  2. i wanna store items in rooms and then store rooms and this way hidden items will not be counted in storage :D my idea is brilliant!! congratulate me later lmao *_*

  3. the items in storage should not count as items displayed in our sims homes. Also, we should be able to pile items in a room, store the room and have the room count as one item, even though it has many items in it. I have already gotten rid of many items that i wanted to keep, but could not because of stroage limits. I have to sell something to buy the threadmill. Not good, not nice. I worked very hard to buy these items. When I had to sell my fences to make room for other items that hurt because the fences were 1000 sioms each. Not nice at all:((

  4. Please not just for a mere 50 extra storage LOL! when the game developer can release new theme every week, 50 extra storage can last only for a theme or two! would appreciate it more if the storage is lift until 1000

  5. One way they could solve this is increase the value of what you can sell things for, motivating people to sell instead of store items.

  6. I ran out of storage two months ago.. I have had to sell many things I loved to purchase the higher priced skill items and the awesome things that Alice in Wonderland offered. I want to buy a lot of Paris stuff, but that means I am going to need to sell things that my sim loves. I also am getting sims cash soon... its so hard to spend real money when I have to continually sell things I worked hard for.

  7. Perhaps they should consult one of the other games with huge amounts of storage. ;) ie. Gardens of Time
I do not know the technicalities involved, for example The Sims Social items being interactive versus decorative only items. Such things would also explain why some items changed on interactive actions versus less or no interaction.
Just some thoughts on the matter....:)

  8. 600 items isn't enough. If they raise it that paltry amount I'm quitting for good. We need at least 1000 items, preferably unlimited. Just limit the freaking amount you can have out at a time. Seriously peeved at this. I am a hardcore fan of TSS and they penalize people for being hardcore fans. No thanks, I'll go back to just playing Warcraft. KTHXBAI.

  9. should be more than 1000. 600 is insuffient still

  10. Good grief, I really hope it isn't another measly 50 slots. That is a joke. I was unable to decorate for Christmas (or since) because I was tired of selling items I liked for a pittance, after spending ages earning Simoleons. At least one other Playfish game has *unlimited* storage, so why can't we have that for TSS? This has been such a big problem for so long...I know lots of people that haven't bought any SimCash even though they used to be regular customers, because they're unwilling to sell items that they paid real money for in order to make more space.

  11. With that many items dropping, I hope they will raise the limit higher than 600! I was happy when the limit was raised from 500 to 550 but that didn't last long!

I love so many of the items and the art. I do use SimCash too for many of them and have had to sell off some of those items as well. It is especially hard when those items are "retired".

  12. better that they expire items on the shelf than those that are already on my lawn. gimping the xmas tree without offering compensation for reduced functionality only created a need for me to pick up stuff to make up for what they took away. then there's the aquarium and toasting set nonsense. playfish is as much in need of a little self-control as some of their users.

  13. That's great to hear! Thanks for the update. :)

  14. That Playfish eliminates old items from store its good, because it keeps us playing to earn money to buy the stuff we want before you guys take them away, but, people will buy and buy and where to put them?
I think they should give us unlimited storage, as you guys said, they will have to continue to rise and rise, so why they just dont raise it good this time? Eventually players, like myself will run out of unimportant items in storage to sell and for a fact they will stop playing the game. What if all the items i have left I had to buy them with simcash?

  15. yay~ another plus 50 to le item storage limit weeee haha

well yes I have reached 550 at wan time so then I sold items that I have in multiple, coz I remember sum quest made us buy stuffs we dont actually need, so I go through my storage and I think I freed up 10+ storage space [it's hard to sell them. i just can't]. it is really becoming a big problem for me to have this limited storage as I can't be much of a compulsive buyer anymore, I wanna put fencing surrounding all of my lot (I've bought all the expansion lands) and the area has become wideR and I'm gonna need lots more of storage space for the all those fences. SO I was just wondering why the clothes storage doesnt have a limit (or do they but I just know about it), can't that also be applied for the item storage???

  16. To cut down on loading time, could there be a limit placed on the amount of items that can be placed on the property instead of limiting overall storage?

If Playfish insists on releasing new items every week, they need to invest in more server space or continuing the storage cap will eventually affect their sales.

  17. ok, what the hell is this "show off underwear" interaction? please playfish, my sim is not a slut. stop doing sluty clothes and interactions!

  18. I'm out of space and have sold pretty much everything I'm really willing to sell. Especially my Simcash and limited items. How stupid would that be to throw away real money on those and then sell them back for simoleans? It's ok if they don't get around to more storage though soon - they won't get anymore money from me until they do! :)

  19. i guess somepple like myself dun mind selling certain unwanted or ugly items like the current sombero quest. the problem is the moment we sell a particular item, our hse value drops, so imagine if u sell a item like the g counter that has a 5figure value. who would sell it (as a example) so maybe the moment the game "SAVED" the hse value, after a couple of hrs later, the user/playr could sell the item to make way for another limited ed item

  20. I feel like people need to stop complaining about not having enough storage. If you didn't buy everything from each theme then you wouldn't have this problem. Yes, they do focus more on creating a large quantity of items for the players and this is a problem but the players also have the problem of wanting everything.

  21. I just wanna increase traits capacity.3000 Extra lifepoint seen meaningless...

  22. I don't buy EVERYTHING from every theme. I buy generally 5 to 6 items. I only spend simcash on SKILL items and the occassional seasonal item I love! I never buy the expensive simcash stuff. I do complete every quest, so I have all the rewards. I also have most of the free "can't be bought" offerings. Overpurchasing is not why I'm out of room. I've played since BETA! That's why I'm out of room. Don't assume you know why everyone is running out of room. Many people are like me - out of room because they've been in it since the beginning. You know what they say about assuming - so don't be the first 3 letters of that word with your rude comments that are way off the mark for most players.

  23. I agree with the person who said that simmers want to buy everything. You have to pass up on certain items. Some of you have everything you own on display anyway and your houses are over crowded. I can see you having a 2 bedroom house but 3-4 bedrooms and 3 baths is rediculous. YOUR HOUSE IS HARD TO LOAD!!! Sell some items like the cheap toilets and sinks and repurchase them when u are changing your theme. The problem is, most of you don't chance your house theme, you keep pilling items into your same old frumpy house. There is one house in my neighborhood that I am not going to anymore because I am totally grossed out. Your houses are full of old junk and pull of puddles. Why do you have to make your sim a total slob. Have a garage sale and clean up your mess. No LOL

  24. The main problem I have with storage limits is when you want to use fences. Having full land expansion and wanting to fence (or even partially fence) your lot takes up a lot of space.

    I don't think the main problem is with the limits themselves (ideally I'd say to scrap them, but assuming there has to be limits for stability issues, etc), but how they are done. Every item currently counts, even if it is a duplicate or not. I think it would be better to either;

    a) Only count unique items as part of storage (therefore you can have lots of fences, trees, etc); or

    b) Only count items that you actually have in storage. If you are using an item as part of your house, then don't count it.

  25. I saw a few comments about houses being too full and how they make the computers lag etc. I'm actually surprised how selfish some people are O.o Just because they like their houses small and one-theme oriented does not mean that's how others prefer playing it, and is what they enjoy having. Personally I like having a large house full of stuff, and that's what drives me to play the game, earn simoleons and of course I constantly change the looks and store the old stuff if prettier or pricier stuff becomes available .
I would assume the developers would prefer for people to play this game rather than not play it, so it seems rather logical they would try and incorporate the changes that are demanded by the players, especially us, who have been here since the beginning. But then again, it seems to me they are quite content with sheer numbers, that is to say, the game profits from numbers of players that play it daily but does not benefit from those that play it entire day, That's why it's pointless to explain how much time you are playing the game when they are interested only in those that spend real money and buy simcash and those that play it daily and log regularly but do not create large houses and thus do not require large storage space... Players have endured various bugs, glitches, retroactive changes that would leave them without simoleons and the items they have bought, and EA and Playfish are forgetting how people spend their real time playing these games. I had to sell a lot of the stuff I bought just so that I would have space to buy other and it has decreased my house value by at least 50k and has left it without windows and small decorative stuff that I enjoy having...
I love all the new stuff they're introducing but they should have their priorities straight. Many glitches that should have been fixed a long time ago are still present in the game, many reasonable request from the players have been ignored and I guess people are just fed up with all that. Why waste your time playing sims social if it does not make you happy when you can buy a game for the same amount you would spend on a virtual fountain O.o not to mention you could build one in your own backyard :)))

  26. I sincerely would spend my REAL hard earned money on this game, but I can't justify doing so since I never have enough storage!

  27. Hello people I just had a question that has been on my mind for a awhile now...

Is there any particular reason that EVERY SINGLE SIMS SOCIAL QUEST EVENT IS GLTICHED??????

Currently I am on a quest that starts out by rewarding you with a nice new Penthouse. The Penthouse involves a 3 week quest where you get a helicopter if you finish on time. Funny how the penthouse has clutter in every available spot where a bed required for purchase could have gone, yet oddly enough the trash is not selectable to remove??

I'm not crazy I know there is something VERY wrong in the EA workshop. Either their staff has been cut down due to layoffs or they just don't give a shit.

Literally EVERY SINGLE SIMS SOCIAL QUEST has some kind of glitch where crucial items needed to complete the quests require you to ask your neighbors only to never get a response.

I know its not the fault of my neighbors because they respond to anything else within the same timeframe. However when it comes to major quests items there is ALWAYS A PROBLEM!!!!!

    Always.

Those same neighbors can grant any other request at the drop of a hat, but when it comes to any major quest event there is always a halfway or immediate obstacle where your requests are not returned. Eventually you get frustrated, stop playing for a few days or longer and then the quest expires. I just realized I have gone through this process more times than I can count and its beyond stupid at this point.

I won't even go into trying to figure out the "special useless simcash items". They seriously expect people to spend that kind of money on a vanity item that basically doesn't do SHIT!

    W.T.F. Electronic Arts??????
Are you guys really that greedy????

I should have not even bothered playing Sims Social after the completely RIDICULOUS issues I had just trying to play anything sim related on my PC. I can run WoW or games much higher in system requirements but if I pop an EA disk in there is NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH ZERO EXPLANTION!!!!!

August 9th will be the 1st anniversary of Sims Social. I was going to wait until that time to see if it was still worth playing but honestly there is no point. I'm sick of logging in only to spend half the time figuring out issues while sitting in lag hell, instead of having fun.

To hell with EA and all their sim games. Nothing but WASTED TIME on an inexplicably defective product!

Don't waste any more of your time people there are MUCH better games to play on facebook and elsewhere.

  28. I also have several complaints. I was wanted to change the bathroom door at the snow chalet and I picked up the whole house unit by accident. When I wanted to put it back it would not stay put on the ground. I thought if I put it in my storage and try to put it back, everything would be ok, right? NOT!!! I lost everything!! The entire house, Kitchen, living room halway incl. my furniture which costs me a lot of money, as I also bought stuff with sim cash. Lost it all, it's not in my storage... Not in buildings/storage where you can find the rooms back, everything gone. It should warn people by saying that if you put it in storage you will lose everything instead of that it's going to get stored!!! Who is going to pay back all my stuff that I've bought with simcash??? also I have to reload couple of times in 10 minutes. not receiving my simcash which you receive when you log in couple of days in a row. It says you will receive 3 simcash, than the reload pops in and the simcash, simoleons are lost. I loved this game, but unfortunately it's really getting annoying to play this way...
